Chief ExecutivePrior to his appointment as CEO in May 2011, Peter was Finance Director at Cobra and Recipharm Ltd, Ashton. Peter was also Finance Director of Cobra Biomanufacturing Plc up to its acquisition by Recipharm in 2010, and he has been at the Keele facility for over ten years.
Prior to Cobra he was employed in a number of senior financial and corporate development roles. Peter was awarded an MBA with distinction jointly from the Manchester Business School and the University of Wales.

Prof. Daniel Smith, PhD
Chief Scientific OfficerPrior to his appointment as CSO in June 2014, Daniel was a Knowledge Transfer Manager and Senior Technologist for four years within the bioProcessUK team at the HealthTech & Medicines Knowledge Transfer Network.
Formerly, Daniel spent five years at Cobra in roles including Senior Scientist, QC Team Leader, Head of Process Technology Transfer and Commercial Scientific Development Manager. He has over eight years academic research experience, 20+ research publications to his name and a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology.
In June 2018 he was nominated an Honorary Industry Professor in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Warwick.

Lars Fahlander MSc
Site Manager, MatforsLars has extensive senior management experience; he has held the position of CEO at a number of companies and has been both a Board Member and Chairman on several Boards of Directors. Ten years ago, Lars formed his own Management Consultancy company active in a number of entrepreneurial fields in different business areas such as manufacturing, foundries, telecom, television and IT, and now holds the position of Site Manager at Cobra's Matfors facility.
Lars holds an MSc in Industrial Economy from the University of Linköping.

Lee Warren ACA
Finance DirectorLee joined Cobra in October 2014 as the Group Financial Controller, before being appointed as Finance Director in November 2017. Prior to joining Cobra, Lee came from an audit background, and subsequently held a number of senior management positions in the mobile telecommunications sector. Lee is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 10 years post qualification experience.

Mike Austin BSc, MBA
Vice President OperationsPrior to his appointment at Cobra in April 2020, Mike held the role of General Manager Biologics - Astra Zeneca Sweden.
Mike was accountable at a senior level for leading and realising the company’s significant Drug Product investment at their Södertälje campus – from ground breaking to realisation.
As an experienced Operations Biotech Executive, Mike formerly held senior leadership roles in a number of growing biotech and world class biopharmaceutical companies , including Astra Zeneca, Medimmune, Serologicals, Johnson & Johnson and 3M Healthcare.

Philip Ridley-Smith
Sales and Marketing DirectorPhilip joined Cobra in 2004 and is currently responsible for sales activities in Europe and Asia. In addition, he oversees the global marketing of Cobra with its two sites in Europe.
Before Cobra, Philip had 10 years of experience in various sales positions for diagnostics, large pharma and FMCG companies working in Europe and Asia.
Philip holds a BSc in Biology and French with a CIM qualification.

Sheena Pumford CIPD
HR DirectorAfter completing a management training course with a large retail organisation, Sheena was seconded to a training role with responsibility for the training of over 100 staff and management.
In 1997 Sheena joined Therexsys (now Cobra Biologics) to set up a Personnel Department providing advice to staff and management on a wide range of personnel and training issues. She has spent the last 20 years in the role and during this time has completed an NVQ Level 4 in Personnel Management.

Steve Garland
Site Manager, KeeleAs a microbiologist with over 35 years of biologics development and manufacturing experience Steve joined Cobra as Keele Site Manager in 2014.
He has held several senior positions in manufacturing, commercial and facility management at Celltech, Johnson and Johnson in the Netherlands (formerly Centocor), Sanofi Aventis and more recently Novozymes. Steve has led technology transfer projects into and from the UK to the USA, Japan and China including involvement in the design and build of manufacturing facilities in Asia.
Steve has significant experience in managing facilities through successful Regulatory Authority audits; pre-approval audits, GMP certificate audits and routine inspections.
